Your Word is a Lamp to My Feet...

... and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)
Are you reading The Word? Are you letting God's word guide you?
It seems that this fall I've been so busy -- School has started; I've been going to Physical Therapy; I got a new part time job; I've been trying to buy a car for Hannah -- it just seems like one thing after another, not to mention all the work I do for the Mid-High program. I came to realize I had less and less time for each thing I wanted to do. (Unless I didn't want to sleep anymore....)
During the summer, when I wasn't as busy it was easy to read my bible and take time to reflect on what I read and really listen for God's word to me. Now that I have so much to do, I really have to be deliberate in my reading. I can't just think I'll have time for it during the day. I have to make time.
I'm sure you all have school, homework, sports, music, dance, helping around the house and/or other things that take your time. Don't forget about your 'God Time' though. Remember to make time to read your bible and reflect on God's word for you. You won't regret it. I know I don't.

No Car Road Rally - coming very soon
Crop Walk

Wow- I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted something to the blog. I guess I wasn't feeling inspired, and took a little hiatus. (There's a big work for you.) I think once we get started with our new fall programming I'll be writing more. If any of you want to write something for me to post- feel free!! Just send me an email and I'll post it for you.
So, I'm signing up to participate in the CROP Walk on Sunday, October 4 in downtown Plymouth. I'd love to have a group of mid-highs walk with me. In case you don't know what the Crop Walk is, here is a little information: CROP Hunger walks are neighborhoods walking together to take a stand against world hunger. They raise awareness and money for international relief and development as well as local hunger needs. CROP walks are sponsored by Church World Services.
You can sign up to walk at church at the table in the gathering space, then collect pledges, or, even easier sign up online at cropwalkonline.org. Make sure you get permission from your parents first!

Looking ahead, getting excited
This week I finished working on the plans for the Mid High Ministries for the fall . What does this mean you ask? Well, I figured out what we're going to do on Wednesday nights at LifeStream (it's all about Jesus for the first session); what we'll talk about and do during Breakfast Club on Sunday mornings (Truth and Dare..... hmmm); how we'll participate in corporate worship (I'm thinking skit in October); what mission opportunities we'll take (something every month!); and, of course, what fellowship events (fun! fun! fun!)
I've really been working at this much of the summer. I like to find opportunities that will be not just fun but will help you grow in your faith. I've been reading books, and blogs, and articles, and comments about different youth programs. Next week I'll talk about my ideas with the Youth Ministry Team, and then I'll firm some things up. I think you'll like what I have planned. But you know, I'm always open to suggestion.....

Got a Minute?

It's been a little while since I posted a link to Jason Alexander's "Taking a Minute" site.
As a parent, I liked this message. As a daughter, I also liked this message.
Listen to it here.
Even though I'm a grown woman, I still listen to my dad's advice. He's older, wiser, and he loves me and cares for me and wants the best for me. I'm sure your parents feel the same way...
